Trial sites

Five 'First Release' sites are currently rolling out on mainland Australia to test NBN Co’s design and construction methods. The NBN trial is restricted to a few hundred customers across each of the five First Release sites.

  • Part of the suburb of Brunswick in Melbourne, Victoria
  • Part of the suburbs of Aitkenvale and Mundingburra in Townsville, Queensland
  • The coastal communities of Minnamurra and Kiama Downs, south of Wollongong, New South Wales
  • An area of West Armidale, including the University of New England, New South Wales
  • The rural town of Willunga, South Australia

Telstra Wholesale’s participation in the mainland trial sites is providing an excellent foundation for us to understand the NBN environment better and share those learnings with our customers. We’ve been able to learn, test and document different design and construction requirements in a range of locations and across multiple migration scenarios.
